Tourism Queensland is holding their yearly travel trade event called Queensland Exchange next week in Los Angeles, and they’ve invited the Top 50 Best Job in the World candidates to the event, so I’ll be heading from SXSW to Los Angeles. As we always do, we’ll be driving so we can bring our equipment with us to shoot GeekBrief.TV (and a couple surprises we have in store for you guys!). Now, to the point of the post:

I’ve had many, many requests for a meetup around Los Angeles and in all our travels, we’ve never been able to have one. Now’s the time!

Sunday, March 22nd, Tourism Queensland will be holding an event and GIVING AWAY two tickets every hour to Australia!!! It’s being held on the lawns of the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, so it’s the perfect place for us to hang out and get to know each other!

Date: Sunday, March 22nd
Time: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Location: Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, California – on the lawns

There is no registration or RSVP required, but I would love to know who’s thinking about coming, so leave a comment below or send me a email! I’m looking forward to meeting you LA folks! @TypicalMacUser…you better be there! ;)

Follow my Twitter account for any updates on the day – I’ll post exactly where I am when I get there.

Vote for Cali

Wow, this is great! I am from the L.A. area, but living on the east coast. I will be on vacation, and I arrive on Saturday, so this is perfect for Sunday Night. See ya there Cali!!

Wow, you’ll be practically in my backyard (I live in Palos Verdes). I’ll see if I can round up the family and cajole them into a trip to the Aquarium. As for Australia, I’ve been there 2 times on business to Sydney and loved it. My wife wants to go for sure, but we’ll have to spring for the other 3 tickets for our kids.

I’m curious what your answer would be in an interview if you are asked about the effects of Climate Change on the Barrier Reef?

Are you going to quote from the Australian Government’s ‘Climate Change and the Great Barrier Reef: A Vulnerability Assessment’ or are you going to say Climate Change is a fraud and the barrier reef is in no danger and the 80 leading climate and tropical marine experts who wrote the report are all mistaken?

Are you going to tell them your truth or what they might expect to hear? Be a hypocrite or be true to your beliefs?

  15. Eyedocmark Says:

Used to live there. 3000 miles away, and the 21st we’ve got my daughter’s 13th birthday, so I think we’ll have to miss the meetup. I won a 16 day trip to Australia in 1990. Anne and I loved it. You will, too. Snorkeling at the great barrier reef, when we stayed in Cairns, was fabulous. Loved Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, the penguins south of Melbourne. We even liked Sydney. Come on, everyone, HELP CALI WIN!!!
At least we have no snow here in Syracuse, NY today.

@MikeInLondon: I’m secure in what I think about CO2 and climate change.

There are two different Fry’s in Phoenix. One is a grocery chain and the other is the electronic’s store you know. As far as I know, the two are not connected in anyway (Fry’s grocery is owned by Kroger), just happen to have names that are about the same.

  20. Gregg Gallagher Says:

I intend to be there – llok forward to meeting all!

Hey Cali! We’re in the LA area. May try to catch you at the meetup, or PM me if you want to get together earlier.

After I shoot the Pasadena Marathon, I’ll rush on over. I don’t have Twitter on my cell though (one of those people that likes their cell to just be a phone), but hope to see you and Neal there!

  23. MrZ Says:

    Hi, Cali.
This is Mr. Z from the chat rooms. You may not remember me, since I’ve been stuck underneath piles and piles of homework for the past five weeks. But I just wanted to mention that myself and possibly two other friends will come and greet you to our Los Angeles abode. Looking forward to it.
