Wrap Up: WordCamp Dallas ’09

Wow, what a weekend! I helped John P. organize this year’s WordCamp. This was the second year for Dallas to hold a WordCamp, and I’m very pleased at how the event turned out. We had between 300 and 350 people show up (haven’t gotten an official count just yet), we streamed the entire weekend on UStream, and became a trending topic on Twitter.

So many people volunteered to help out, which we were extremely thankful for! I didn’t get a chance to thank each of you in person, so…thank you! Ustream kept us on the home page most of the weekend and ensured we were able to stay up the entire time. We used Tricaster to stream the conference, and I was lucky to have Philip Nelson from NewTek there to train our volunteers on the system, and help sort out any technical issues we had.

We had awesome sponsors (Woopra, Layered Tech, UTD, Taylormark, Automatic, ZipServers, Server Beach, X-Company) and very cool giveaways (Layered Tech, Taylormark, Griffin, Speck, Thoughtout.biz)!

Here are some of the pictures I’ve seen from the event. If you know of any others, please let me know and I’ll update this page:
