Some feedback — two points that make GeekBrief and GeekBeat different experiences for me.
This show opens with about 30 seconds of story teasers, show ID, some sponsor stuff, about 60 seconds for story then a 30 second commercial. Half of the first 2 minutes are promo or commercial. The commercial breaks up the already brief (5min) show, meaning the longest editorial segment can only be about 2 minutes. This same somewhat annoying frame is used by other Revision 3 shows, but I find it especially disruptive on short shows like GeekBeat or AppJudgement.
When I looked back at some of the old GeekBrief shows, there was less opening promo, and sponsors were given time at the beginning and end. With this small change, the entire show had a more fluid pace more the appearance of more time and weight to stories, even if the total time was the same.
Of course, GeekBeat exists because of Cali – a video personality that defines the term In GeekBrief the personality seemed to appear naturally, in the course of doing stories. For whatever reason GeekBeat bits seem forced, and at the expense of content. In this episode, there is coverage of new Macs. Rather than give a detailed rundown, or discuss lack of USB3, the segment ended with a strained bit about just buying the old model.
